On 1st January, 2018
India and Pakistan exchanged the list of their nuclear installations.
It is necessary to
exchange these highly secretive documents to avoid unintended consequences. For
example, what if a small exchange of fire happens between India and Pakistan
and one of these two countries attacked a location where there is some sort of
nuclear installation – civilian or military. That may lead to millions of
innocents getting killed.
This is the 27th
time when India and Pakistan has shared the list of nuclear installations.
Prohibition of Attack
against Nuclear Installations was an agreement signed by India and Pakistan in 31st
December, 1988. This agreement came into force on January 27, 1991.
