Kalika Purana is a part
of Upapurana (minor Purana). There are 18 Upapuranas. It is also known as Sati
Purana or Kali Purana.
The text is based on
Shiva’s consort, in many ways – Durga, Kamakhya, Kali, Sati, etc.
Taking a look at the
entire text of this Purana, it can be said that it was composed in Assam region
of India. The Kamakhya Devi is
glorified here in the form of Sati/Shaktism. Kamakhya Temple is located in Assam.
This is a little known
Upapurana, but it is also heart of Hinduism as the stress is on deity. This
Purana makes Vedic religion apart from other prevalent religions of that time.
